We just received the largest gift in our 31-year history! The BB&T Challenge Initiative will provide $750,000– or $25,000 per Habitat house, for a total of 30 houses– over the next three years.

“The BB&T Challenge is part of our commitment to the communities we work and live in,” said BB&T Triad Regional President Cantey Alexander. “We believe this neighborhood has so much potential, and we know the community will step up to make this a huge success.

About Us

Building Hope by Building Homes– Steadfastly adhering to a philosophy of a “hand-up, not a hand-out,” Habitat is a powerful engine of collaboration and reciprocity whereby those who qualify- by having a history of steady income, verifiable need and a willingness to work hard- soon become involved in giving help to others.  Interest-free mortgage payments go back to Habitat to help future homeowners.  Through this proven and integrity-based strategy of making home ownership a reality, Habitat Forsyth has fundamentally changed lives for more than 350 Partner Families right here in our community.

Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County has an open-door policy: All who believe that everyone needs a safe, decent and affordable place to live are welcome to help with the work, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, political views or any of the other distinctions that too often divide people.  In short, Habitat Forsyth welcomes volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds and also serves people in need of decent housing regardless of race or religion.

NON-PROSELYTIZING POLICY

As a matter of policy, Habitat for Humanity does not proselytize. Nor will we work with entities or individuals who insist on proselytizing as part of their work with HFH. This means that we do not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must either adhere to or convert to a particular faith, or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.

Habitat for Humanity is a Christian ministry dedicated to a vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. We conduct our programs in ways that are sensitive and respectful to the cultural context and the local faith community and reflect our belief that all are created in God’s image and deserve to be treated without discrimination. Globally, faith-based organizations from all religions approach their work with a range of motivations that inform their development approach. This policy is intended to ensure that we conform to recognized global standards that clearly state that agencies may not condition the receipt of assistance or participation in their work on any requirement that people listen and respond to a message intended to induce people to join a religious movement, political party, or other cause or organization.

Our motivation is to unite people around the concept of “putting God’s love into action” along with others from all faiths or with no faith convictions who are interested in helping those in need of improved shelter.
