God wants to bring new hope after divorce
Parsons, KS – Holidays can be difficult for the divorced, but when people are facing divorce as Christians, there are few resources to help them see God in the midst the process. Finding God in the Seasons of Divorce, Vol. 2, has just been released in time to help readers find the help they need over the winter holidays of Christmas, New Year’s and Valentine’s Day. Richard D. Crooks uses his years of pastoral experience and theological education, as well as his own personal experience with divorce, to guide both Christians and non-Christians through daily devotionals to help them move toward healing and hope. This two volume set not only will help people struggling in divorce, it provides a tangible way family members and friends can help during this holiday season.
Prior to his own divorce, Crooks would minister to others going through divorce. As he experienced it himself and realized which ministries were effective and which were not, he recognized the need for a good Christian resource. “Christians often struggle not only with divorce, but also a great sense of uncertainty about their connections to God and to the church,” says Crooks. “My own experience helped me understand personally what these individuals face and how important a resource like this can be to help them through this time.” Because of this, the volumes contain not a collection of simplistic answers, but an honest and relevant approach to the tough issues of divorce.
The newly released second volume of the two volume set, Finding God in the Seasons of Divorce, Vol. 2, completes the year’s worth of devotional readings. This volume helps readers find hope for the future, dealing with topics such as maintaining Christian standards, starting over, dating again and handling the ongoing emotions of loneliness, grief, fears and worries over finances. Each reading is based on biblical texts selected to offer hope and direction as the divorced rebuild in a new phase of life. While the first volume deals with the immediate struggles inherent in the process of divorce, volume two helps the reader move forward into the future with God’s help and guidance. Crooks offers uplifting messages that have helped and encouraged many struggling in divorce.
“This book offers hope for the divorcing person through teachings of God’s love and
compassion, helping the reader discover what God’s purpose and plans might be for the next stage of life.”
