Hydrating Humanity is a faith-based non-profit organization that works primarily in East Africa using local people and education to reach an entire generation and bring effective, sustainable change. Education and Mentoring are a big part of what we do. Water is only the tip of the spear.
The World Health Organization (WHO) claims that too much money is spent by humanitarian organizations on water provision compared to money spent on hygiene education. It’s so easy to put in a well, take a quick photograph and move on…but clean water without hygiene education is not very effective at eliminating waterborne disease, that’s why we do both!
As of September 19th, 2013 Hydrating Humanity has completed 210 water projects in Kenya and Tanzania and can confirm that due to our rigorous maintenance program, everyone one of our hand pumps remains operational today. Please visit our Clean Water Sources page. We are the only Non Profit Organization that guarantees ongoing maintenance after the fact. Our hygiene curriculum is currently being taught in over 200 schools in Kenya and many more in Tanzania.
