Justice For Orphans has 3 main focuses:
- To rally the Church for the cause of the fatherless based on James 1:27. It’s the Church’s responsibility to care for orphans.
- We advocate for Christian families to adopt and/or do foster care, and we encourage global orphan care as well.
- We wrap around families who are doing just that by providing encouragement, support groups, and help before, during, and after the children are home.
About Justice For Orphans, New York
Justice For Orphans is a ministry under Gospel Community Church in Coxsackie NY. This ministry is to bring the need of the orphan to the forefront of the church. Founders Sandra Flach and Mary Slager would welcome any opportunity to share the needs of the orphan wherever possible.
Sandra is co-founder of JFO. She and Wayne have been married for 26 years and have 3 biological children, 1 grown daughter adopted domestically, and 4 children adopted internationally from Ukraine. They have a heart to encourage families struggling with parenting “kids from hard places.” Their youngest adopted son has FASD, ADHD, and Sensory Processing Disorder. Mary is co-founder of JFO. She and her husband Stan have been married 47 years and have eight children: two married biological children and six adopted children. One child was a domestic adoption and the other five are from Ukraine. They have done foster care for a number of years for about 60 children and are still doing some foster work at the present time. They especially enjoy their 10 grandchildren! At the present time they still have five children at home ranging in age from 13 to 22. Stan pastors a church and Mary is a stay at home mom. Their children have truly been a blessing from the Lord and they enjoy them immensely. It hasn’t always been easy, since their youngest child has a cranial facial syndrome and has required, and will still need, numerous surgeries. His delightful leadership qualities however make up for his short comings in other areas. They truly feel blessed by God with their family.
