August 12-19, 2013  http://www.razoo.com/story/St-Vincent-Hope-And-Hope-Ministries-Sports-Missions-Trip

Our team wants to use their God Given talent and are interested in embarking on a journey that will take the Gospel message, literally to the world. We will be traveling down to the Caribbean island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines on a SPORTS MISSIONS trip this summer for duration of seven days. We will be taking a crew of 15 people to accomplish a threefold purpose in the tiny city of Campden Park, St. Vincent:

1. Share the Gospel message with the people of Campden Park by helping them reach their God given potential in Spirit, Mind and Body. Evangelism will be the main reason for this trip, as we first must share Christ will the citizens of this city, so they can recognize their purpose in life.

2. Sports will be used as a tool to accomplish goal number one. We are hoping to use Basketball and Soccer (Football) as our outreach tools. Our activities will be held at the Campden Park Hard court; there we will undertake 3 different projects:

– The cleaning and restoration of the hard-court, which entails the re-painting of basketball lines, cleaning the basketball goals and the cleaning and cutting of the grass around the facility.
– We will direct Basketball camp/programs that will teach the children the rules and fundamental skills of the sport; this camp will have a basketball summer camp feel.
– We will teach and empower people who are interested in learning simple ways of creating, organizing and directing sports in and around the community.

3. Create and continue a relationship between the people of Campden Park, St. Vincent and the local church via Hope & Hope Ministries’ outreach. This relationship has been started by Kishon Bishop, who is a native of Campden Park.

Our trip to St. Vincent and the Grenadines can have a major impact on team members who are involve with this trip. Here are some ways in which this venture can make things happen:

Knowledge: The people who will be directly involved will become more aware of what the Sports evangelism is like. With the ability to leave their comfort zones and implement the same programs in a new culture our staff will be able have a clearer picture of how Christ can create a change in people’s lives forever.

Community: Campden Park is a small city that has lost its desire to be a close knit community. Thousands of people walk through our doors at the Y daily, because they want to be a part of something bigger, and this vision can be imparted to the Camden Park community.

Sports Development: In the past Campden Park citizens have been used to being mentioned as part of the National sporting activities; it is one of the places you have to be to participate in a very good sporting activity. Any member of Hope & Hope Ministries will have a GREAT opportunity to help relight and re-energize the people of Campden Park to become the sporting center of the island again. A great example of the opportunity we have is the lack of any Basketball competitions over the last four years on the island.

Care Point: There are many children in Campden Park that will never have the correct equipment or materials needed to learn or participate in sporting activity. We are blessed to have an abundance of resources at our disposal here in the USA. This is a very good chance for Hope & Hope Ministries to be a pioneer and adopt Campden Park as its care point so that we have a specific outlet for the extra sporting goods that we have. In doing this we will have a very accurate way of seeing out impact on lives and accessing on a yearly, where and to whom our efforts should be.

Exchange: When a trusted relationship has been built, and Campden Park, St. Vincent becomes comfortable to us, we also will be blessed. Opportunities will be countless for the members of Hope & Hope Ministries, whether it is a summer internship, or a U12 soccer team, we will have more program opportunities. The only question we will have then is how big do we want our involvement to grow?
