For 25 years, we’ve shared the life-saving power of the gospel. We’ve discipled thousands of inmates and had the privilege of celebrating more than 5,000 decisions for Christ! We stand amazed and humbled. And we’re just getting started.Currently, our prison system is made up of 2.2 million inmates. And while many believe inmates are feeling the effects of COVID less than the rest of us, the reality is that this worldwide pandemic is isolating them now more than ever.

For the foreseeable future, inmates are facing incarceration without the presence of visitors or physical ministries and with limited access to chaplains and religious services. In addition, the time they’re allowed out of their cells has been nearly eliminated. Truly, one of their only lifelines to the outside world right now is through mail, which is why it has never been more important for us to continue penetrating prisons with the living, breathing, saving Word of God. Receiving Bibles will likely be one of the only exposures to the Gospel that most inmates receive for the next several months.

Inmates like Steven…I was raised in a Christian home, but we didn’t go to church much. I accepted Christ as my Savior when I was 15 years old while attending a youth retreat with my church. Over the years I strayed from God and fell headfirst into the evil ways of this world. I spent many years as a young man behind bars and went nearly 28 years avoiding serious trouble until that dreadful day I will never forget: June 6, 2018 — the day that the Michigan State Police raided my home with a warrant for my arrest. While in the Allegan County Jail I was offered a Bible by my cellmate who was being released. I declined, saying, ‘I didn’t come to jail to find God.’ That Bible (The Life Recovery Bible) sat on the floor under my bunk for quite a while. I can still see it there in my mind. I later began reading a book that had many Scripture references throughout it. Finally, I reached for that Bible under my bunk to look up those references and from that moment on, my life has never been the same. That Bible was donated by you, Christian Library International.Stories like Steven’s are only possible because of you!
