The View From Above
The pilot’s view is one of wonder. Above are the heavens. Below is the canopy of trees, lush, beautiful, a woven tapestry of life. Above is the air, the breath of mankind. Below are rivers that connect us and bring the waters of life.
Tim and Bertha Eaton, the founders of NutraMedix, know this view. From the time Tim was a child, he wanted to fly. In his twenties, he volunteered for a missionary aviation group, serving the countries of Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and the Bahamas. By the mid-1980s, he considered himself the luckiest guy in the world, serving God and flying to remote areas in Peru.

Bertha was born into a family of pilots, her father being noted for recording the highest flight time of anyone in the Peruvian Air Force. When they met and fell in love, they imagined a life of adventure, family, and service.

But all pilots must land eventually, and when they do, the view from the ground is not always good. In their travels to places where few went, Tim and Bertha witnessed a dichotomy.

On the one hand, there was extreme poverty, malnutrition, and a lack of education.

On the other, a rich healing tradition of the indigenous people and their centuries-old knowledge and respect for plant medicine.

Over time they experienced first-hand how God was providing powerful natural remedies for those without money and who lacked access to conventional medicine; a hopeful and sustainable way to support health.
The Eatons asked, “What is the lesson and how can we share it?” They found inspiration from Revelation 22:2, “The leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations.”
Marriage of Two Americas

In the early 1990s, the newly-married Eatons moved to Florida, bringing with them this vision birthed in South America. They had clarity in how it would manifest itself: it would be God’s company and they would be its stewards.

In the beginning, NutraMedix developed and offered healing remedies from Peru to the U.S. public, and then utilized the profits to fund projects that addressed the physical and spiritual needs of the Peruvian people. A virtuous cycle between the two Americas.

Little did they know how much more the company would become.
Holistic & Virtuous Power

Today the NutraMedix virtuous cycle offers over 40 remedies and funds projects on six continents.

The intention behind everything we do is captured in this powerful verse from Jeremiah 30:17: “I will give you back your health and heal your wounds,” says the LORD.

We begin with a truly holistic approach to making products. Each addresses medicinal, economic, social, spiritual, and environmental well-being.

We choose herbs for their quality, then scientifically validate their efficacy and safety. We pay fair and honest wages to support the local economies. We honor the social and cultural laws and traditions. We recognize the spiritual bond between people and healing herbs. We support regenerating the land and protecting its biodiversity.

When we source our herbal ingredients, we bring expertise to the jungle: botanists who understand the local ecology, doctors versed in indigenous traditions, and guides who have developed a trusting relationship with the villages and tribes.

But we are not there to take — we are there to listen with humility, to learn selflessly, to collaborate willingly. These botanical plants are the Creator’s gifts that we honor throughout every step of our process: from sustainable growing and harvesting, to drying and processing, to testing for vibrancy and safety, to investing in clinical studies at major research institutions around the world.

There is power to our holistic and virtuous process. It is God-given, tangible, and measurable.

Because in the end, don’t we all want a world that is as good below as it looks from above? An interconnected world filled with love and kindness. Where we lift people up to experience what can be.

A view not just for our pilots, but for all.
